72nd National PRCUA Bowling Tournament
Was One for the History Books!

The 72nd National PRCUA Bowling Tournament was held on April 17-19, 2009
at the New Glass Bowl Lanes in Toledo, OH. Forty-eight teams
participated in this event. Many of our bowlers took advantage of the
high scoring conditions in this house and "SHOT THE LIGHTS OUT"!!
There were not one, not two, but THREE 300
games shot! One on each day of the tournament One of these 300s was
bowled in the team event, which was worth a whopping prize $1500 to Tom
Jablonowski of Parma, OH. The other two 300s were bowled by Todd
Malavolti of Detroit, MI and Vince Badalamenti of Wyandotte, MI in
singles/doubles events on Friday and Sunday. Each was awarded $500 by
the PRCUA for their outstanding performance.

The opening ceremonies were held on
Saturday, at 12:45 p.m. Resident Vice-President Anna Sokolowski
introduced the Officers and Directors of the PRCUA who were present:
President Wallace and Mrs. Joann Ozog, Resident Vice- President Anna
Sokolowski and husband Mark, Vice-President Robert Bielenda and wife
Eleanor, Secretary-Treasurer Joyce Szarowicz and husband Walter,
District 2 Director William Nowakowski, District 5 Director Joan Sylak,
District 7 zDirector Lillian Stempinski, District 10 Director Barbara
Toboy. Past District 9 Director Constance Bonin, Past Director of
Districet 5 Paul Wenzel, Jr. and Supervisor Ted Klamerus were also
present. After the introductions, Mrs. Sokolowski presented the “Bowler
of the Year” plaque and jacket to the Joe 2008 Osmanski Award winner
Dolores Lybik, a member of Society 162. She is Treasurer of Soc. #162
Bowling League and has bowled for 60 years, since the age of 17!
Congratulations!
President Wallace Ozog officially opened the tournament by ceremonially
throwing out the first ball. He was able to knock down most of the pins!
Many of our bowlers took advantage of the
hospitality offered by PRCUA District 5. Chairperson Terry Krasniewski,
along with District 5 Director Joan Sylak and Paul Wenzel, Jr. and
members of the committee, Zuella Czerniak, Jackie Mohr, Doris Rober,
Tina Podbielniak, Teresa Gibala and Linda Szych did a fine job of
treating the bowlers well. The beer and homemade food was terrific!!
At Misiuda Hall, on Saturday evening, a
Polka Mass was celebrated by Father Rich and The Touch of Brass Band.
Fraternalism was at its best during the evening hours. The Award
Ceremony began at 10:00 p.m. The Men's PRCUA National Bowling Tournament
Champions are MAYBE NEXT YEAR GUYS of Loraine, OH: Donald Turton, Ray
Hildebrandt, Bob Guy, Dennis Zakutny and Daryl Zakutny. The
women's PRCUA National Bowling Tournament Champions are: PJP II GALS of
Sterling Hts., MI: Brenda Ozog, Barbara Withers, Celeste Grabowski,
Diane Godin and Katy Hyso. The evening continued with raffles, music and
dancing until the wee hours of the morning.

District 5- VP Sokolowski, her secretary Mary Jane Robles, my wife
Lillian and my Son, Paul. Special thanks, to Ron Shulte and his staff
for his co-operation during the this tournament.
Frank and Jerry Nasiatka, co-chairmen of
the 2010 PRCUA Bowling Tournament are planning a great time for the
bowlers. Save the dates: April 23-25, 2010, at Plaza Lanes in Plymouth,
MI.
