BUYING LIFE INSURANCE
Part 4
In past articles, we have
discussed all the components you should consider when buying life insurance.
In this article we will cover what you can expect a PRCUA Agent to do for
you.
Our agents are willing and
able to explain various policies and other insurance related matters. Let
your agent know what you expect of him or her. You should feel satisfied
that the agent is listening to you and looking for ways to get you the right
type and amount of life insurance.
During the agents visit, be
prepared to discuss with the agent your life insurance needs. What is your
purpose of purchasing life insurance and what amount of premium dollars do
you plan to pay. The agent needs this and other information to help you
purchase the right plan at the right price.
Once you have discussed
your financial needs and objectives with your agent, he or she will
recommend the type of policy that will best suit your purposes. If you
agree, then the agent will complete the application and begin to ask you a
number of questions.
Be prepared to answer
questions about your health and medical condition, family history and
personal habits. It is important that you answer these questions carefully
and truthfully. This information helps PRCUA charge a fair premium for your
coverage. In the event of your death, accurate and truthful answers will
enable your beneficiary to receive prompt payment. Also depending on the
amount of life insurance to be purchased and your age, you may be required
to take a physical examination.
In summary, knowing why you
need life insurance; reviewing your financial needs to determine the amount
of insurance needed; understanding the advantages and disadvantages of the
different types of life insurance; and working with your PRCUA agent will
make the process of buying life insurance one in which you will feel
confident that you've made the right decision.
