67th PRCUA National Golf Tournament

For PRCUA Members Only – NEW MEMBERS WELCOME!!

We will be golfing at Giant Oak Golf Club, 1024 Valette Drive, Temperance, MI, on Saturday, July 20, 2019. VikkiJean Mixon (chairwoman), Tom Jesionowski (coordinator) and St. Thaddeus’ PRCUA Society #1617 are excited to host this event. Shotgun start is at 7:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

THIS IS A FOUR PERSON SCRAMBLE TOURNAMENT

A scramble is a great team event. On every hole, each team member may hit a tee shot. The team determines the best shot and then all team members hit from that location. This procedure is repeated until the ball is holed out. A team score is recorded and the team moves to the next hole.

The categories are: Ladies’ (four women), Men’s (four men), Mixed (2 men, 2 women), and Seniors (62 and over); senior foursomes can be all male, female, or mixed. The entry form (available for download below) must be completed and returned to the Home Office by mail or e-mail along with the $50.00 entry fee per golfer by July 5, 2019 (See entry form for further instructions).

Winners in each category will be announced at the banquet immediately following the tournament at the PRCUA Toledo Club Hall, 5255 N Detroit Ave, Toledo, OH. Dinner will be served at 7:00 p.m. Cash bar.

CONTESTS
More To Be Announced At The Tournament

CLOSEST TO THE PIN: This usually occurs on a par 3 hole. Players try to hit their ball closest to the hole in a single shot from the teeing ground. The ball must come to rest on the green in one stroke. The player whose ball is closest to the hole wins. Men and women may compete separately or play against each other, taking advantage of different tee grounds placement to level the playing field.
LONGEST DRIVE: The winner is the player who hits his or her ball the farthest in a single stroke while keeping the ball in the fairway. Men and women may compete separately or play against each other by taking advantage of the placement of different tee grounds to level the playing field.
HOLE IN ONE: In golf, a hole in one is when a ball hit from a tee shot finishes in the cup. This awards the player a score of one for the hole. Holes in one most commonly occur on par 3 holes, the shortest distance holes on a standard size golf course. Longer hitters have also accomplished this feat on longer holes, though nearly all par 4 and par 5 holes are too long for golfers to reach in a single shot. Men and women may compete separately, or play against each other, taking advantage of the placement of different tee grounds to level the playing field.
