66th National PRCUA Golf Tournament

The 66th Annual PRCUA National Golf Outing, was completed on Saturday, July 21, 2018. 150 soggy golfers, braved the weather to compete for the coveted crowns in the 5 divisions of the scrambles tournament. Competitors from Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois & Pennsylvania, made the trip to Wyandotte, MI, where Society 162 put together another great tournament.

The weekend started with a preliminary play round on Friday, where over 70 golfers spent the morning golfing at Riverview Highlands Golf Course. Bob Hojnacki put together a round of golf and the held an afterglow back at the 162 Lounge in Wyandotte. Mike Halberstadt had the lounge ready to go and put together some lunch for everyone involved. Hospitality night continued at the lounge Friday evening. A great crowd arrived to enjoy some food and great company, getting ready for the Tournament.

The rain was an issue all day Saturday for both groups, but everyone managed to finish play, maybe a little wetter than when started, but the rounds were completed. A special tournament event was when Society 162’s very own Robert Malkiewicz shot a hole-in-one on the Red Course, Hole # 4, 125 yards. Congratulations Bob!

The evening continued with a great polish style dinner and music from the fine sounds of the New Brass Express and with the awards presentations for the following divisions:

Mens – 62 – Bill Kaczur II, Jeff Schade
Ladies – 72 – Darcy Malavolti, Jenniffer Rye-Coughlin, Jennifer Egan, Tajzna Rye
Mixed – 74 – Dennis Rocheleau, Dianne Rocheleau, Janet Rys, Ed Rys Jr.
Sr. Mixed – 63 – Robert Favot, Mary Jane Favot, Al Salatowski, Gene Souva
Sr. Men – 69 – Jerry Nasiatka, Frank Nasiatka, Dennis Churchvara, Ed Zabczynski

PRCUA President Joseph Drobot Jr, closed the awards ceremony with some words of wisdom, and a special Presentation. With President Drobot’s retirement in September, he presented Society 162 President Stan Pasko, with a framed wood carving of the Polish Eagle that hung in his office. It was presented to him when he became President, from a PRCUA society that used to be in Hamtramck, MI. President Drobot thought it needed a home back in Michigan and Society 162 was the Place. Society 162 President Stan Pasko Accepted the gift and the Carving will reside proudly at 1430 Oak St for years to come.

Society 162 President Stan Pasko, also took a few minutes to thank all his volunteers for their work, since as you know if you’ve run a tournament, you can’t do it alone. So special thanks to Mateusz Bomba, Fraternal Coordinator, Delphine Kuhar, Charlene Rzeppa, Michael Gryczko, Sandra Adamski, Jake Grabowski, Al Adamski, Mike Halberstadt and our water logged photographer, Larry Craft. Hopefully we didn’t miss anyone!
